Crest Marine Acquires DMM Industries, Grows Capacity to Serve the Marine Industry

Crest Marine, an Owosso Charter Township-based manufacturer of pontoon boats, announces that it has purchased DMM Industries (also known as Paddle Wheeler) located on State St in Owosso, which has manufactured quality fiberglass pedal boats for over 35 years. The new operation will be known as Owosso Composite.  

The company principals' goal is to take the assets of a historically strong, highly regarded product line in the marine industry and provide new investment and business opportunities that will ultimately increase sales and employees. The move is expected to retain 10 and create 15 new jobs.

"We are excited to now have two locations in the Owosso area, and have been very pleased with our workforce and the community's efforts in helping our business. We thank everyone for their support, and are proud to be able to provide a positive economic impact on the region," said Crest Marine and Owosso Composite President Joe Curran.

In 2010, the firm purchased the operating assets of Maurell Products, which manufactured Crest and Sunset Bay product lines since 1957. The acquisition included the facility, equipment, as well as related brands and intellectual property. Since then, sales have increased, the plant has been updated, and nearly 60 employees, many from the local community, have been hired.
